In short. We sell software to transportation operators. We hold two very different kinds of information: a little about the businesses who contact us, and a lot about the drivers, riders and families our customers serve. We control the first. We only ever process the second on our customer's instructions — we do not sell it, do not advertise with it, and do not use it for anything except running the service they bought.
This policy explains what personal information Nice Technologies, Inc. ("Nice Technologies", "we", "us") handles, why, and what rights you have. It covers www.nicetechnologiesinc.com (the "Site") and the Nice fleet platform, including the driver and parent applications (the "Platform").
1. Two roles, and why the difference matters
We handle personal information in two distinct capacities. Which one applies determines who you should contact about your data.
| Capacity | Whose information | Who decides how it is used | Who you contact |
|---|---|---|---|
| Controller | Website visitors, prospects, customer contacts, job applicants | We do. This policy governs it. | Us — info@nicetechnologiesinc.com |
| Processor (service provider) |
Drivers, employees, riders, students and families whose data a customer puts into the Platform | Our customer does. We act only on their documented instructions. | The transportation company or school district you deal with |
If you are a parent, rider or driver: we cannot see, change or delete your records on request, and it would be a serious privacy failure if we could. Contact the organization that runs your service. We will support them in responding to you. See our support page.
2. Information we collect as a controller
2.1 When you contact us
- What you submit through the contact form: name, company, work email, phone number, fleet size, segment and your message.
- What you send us by email, including anything in job enquiries.
2.2 When you browse the Site
- Technical information your browser sends: IP address, user agent, referring page, and the pages you viewed. Our hosting provider logs this for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic measurement.
- We use no advertising trackers, no analytics cookies and no cross-site tracking. The Site sets only cookies strictly necessary to serve and secure it. See section 9.
3. Information we process on our customers' behalf
When an organization uses the Platform, it decides what to put in. Typically that includes:
- Account information — names, work email addresses, roles and permissions of the users their administrator creates.
- Operational records — vehicles, routes, stops, schedules, inspections, work orders and incident reports.
- Driver information — the qualification and compliance records the organization chooses to store, such as license class, endorsements, medical card and certification expiry dates.
- Location information — vehicle position while a vehicle is in service, from the driver application or from telematics hardware the organization already operates.
- Rider and family information — what is needed to run and communicate about a trip: the rider’s name and pickup address, a rider identifier, an assigned stop, accessibility requirements where relevant, and a contact for notifications. Guardians receive event confirmations, and may submit an absence or trip skip ahead of a scheduled pickup.
We do not require, and ask customers not to submit, government identification numbers, financial account details, health records beyond stated accessibility needs, or biometric data.
4. How we use information, and on what basis
| Purpose | Basis |
|---|---|
| Providing, securing, supporting and improving the Platform | Performance of our contract; our legitimate interest in running a reliable service |
| Responding to enquiries, quotes and demonstration requests | Steps taken at your request before entering a contract |
| Service, security and billing notices | Performance of our contract; legal obligation |
| Detecting and preventing fraud, abuse and security incidents | Our legitimate interest, and that of our customers, in protecting the service |
| Meeting legal, tax, accounting and regulatory obligations | Legal obligation |
| Establishing, exercising or defending legal claims | Our legitimate interest |
What we never do. We do not sell personal information. We do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. We do not use rider, student or precise location data to advertise anything to anyone, or to train models for anyone else's benefit.
5. Student information
Where the Platform is used for student transportation, student information is handled solely on behalf of, and under the direction of, the school district or the transportation company that engaged us. Our customer is usually a transportation company operating under contract to one or more districts; the district remains the controller of student records either way. Where the district has designated us as such — directly, or through its contractor — we act as a school official with a legitimate educational interest under FERPA, under the district’s direct control.
We do not use student information for any purpose other than providing the contracted service, do not sell it, do not use it for targeted advertising, and do not build a profile of a student except as needed to deliver transportation. Our full commitments are set out on the Student Data Privacy page.
6. What the parent application sends to a guardian
The parent application is deliberately narrow. As currently released it reports four trip events for one child — boarded, dropped at school, boarded for home, arrived home — together with delay and cancellation notices for that child. It does not send a map, a vehicle position, a live arrival countdown, or any other continuous location feed to a guardian device.
A guardian sees nothing about any other child, and nothing identifying the driver. A guardian may submit an absence or trip skip up to three hours before a scheduled pickup; we process that submission to update the roster and the driver's stop list, and we retain it as an operational record of the trip.
If we later change what the parent application discloses, we will update this policy and notify account administrators before the change takes effect, as described in section 14.
The driver application collects vehicle location while the driver is on shift, for dispatch and safety. Operators are responsible for telling their drivers that this occurs.
7. When we share information
We share personal information only with:
- Sub-processors that host, secure, monitor or support the Platform, under written contracts restricting their use of it to providing services to us. Our current list is published at Sub-processors.
- Integration partners you connect, at your instruction — for example your telematics, payroll or student information provider.
- Professional advisers — lawyers, accountants, auditors and insurers — bound by duties of confidence.
- Authorities, where we are legally required to. Where we are lawfully permitted to do so, we will tell the affected customer before disclosing their data, so they can seek protective relief.
- A successor entity in a merger, acquisition or sale of assets, subject to this policy and on notice to affected customers.
8. Retention
| Category | Retention |
|---|---|
| Website enquiries and prospect contacts | 24 months from last contact, unless you ask us to delete sooner |
| Customer Platform data | For the life of the account, then 30 days after termination to allow export, then deleted |
| Backups | Age out on a 35-day rolling cycle |
| Security and access logs | 12 months |
| Billing and tax records | As required by law, typically 7 years |
Customers may request earlier deletion at any time. We will comply unless we are legally required to retain the data.
9. Cookies and similar technologies
The Site uses only cookies strictly necessary to serve and secure it. We set no analytics, advertising or profiling cookies, and there is no consent banner because there is nothing to consent to.
The Site makes no third-party requests at all. Typefaces, stylesheets, scripts and images are all served from this domain. Nothing about your visit — not your IP address, not your user agent — is disclosed to any other company, and there is no external script that could later start doing so.
If we ever add analytics, we will update this policy first and provide a choice before any non-essential cookie is set.
10. Security
We encrypt data in transit and at rest, isolate each customer's data at the record level so that cross-customer access is not a permission that exists, apply least-privilege access controls, and log administrative activity — including any support session by our own staff, which is time-limited, reason-tagged and visible to the customer afterwards.
No system is perfectly secure, and we do not claim otherwise. If a breach affects your personal information we will notify affected customers without undue delay and in line with applicable law, with what we know, what we are doing, and what you should do.
To report a suspected vulnerability, email info@nicetechnologiesinc.com with "Security" in the subject. We will acknowledge it, tell you what we find, and credit you if you would like.
11. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to access, correct, delete or receive a portable copy of your personal information, to opt out of sale or sharing (we do neither), to limit use of sensitive information, and to appeal a decision. Residents of California and other US states with comprehensive privacy laws have these rights, including the right not to be discriminated against for exercising them.
To exercise a right over information we hold as a controller, email info@nicetechnologiesinc.com. We will verify your identity proportionately to the sensitivity of the request and respond within the time the law allows — 45 days in most US states, extendable once where permitted. You may use an authorised agent.
If your request concerns data held in the Platform by a transportation company or school district, contact that organization. They control it; we will support them in responding.
If we decline a request we will tell you why, and how to appeal.
12. Where information is held
Our infrastructure and the personal information we process are located in the United States. We do not routinely transfer personal information outside the United States. If that changes we will update this policy and put appropriate safeguards in place first.
13. Job applicants
If you write to us about a role, we use what you send to consider you for it and to contact you. We keep applications for 12 months so we can approach you when something opens, unless you ask us not to.
14. Changes to this policy
If we make a material change we will update the date at the top, and — for customers — notify the account administrator by email before it takes effect. Continued use after the effective date means the updated policy applies.
