The platform

One system of record for the whole operation.

Vehicles, drivers, routes, inspections, incidents and parent communication share the same data. Change something once and every screen that depends on it updates — the dispatcher's board, the driver's phone, and the arrival window a parent is watching.

Roles & access

Access flows down, never sideways.

Nice Technologies provisions your company account. From there, control belongs to you: your admin decides who exists in the system and what each person can do. Nobody sees another company's data, and inside your company nobody sees more than their role requires.

Account types and their permissions
Account type Who holds it Can do Cannot do
Nice control portal Nice Technologies staff Create and suspend company tenants, manage subscriptions and plan limits, provide support, monitor platform health Act inside your operation without a logged, time-limited support session you approve
Company admin Your owner, GM or operations director Create every user in your company, assign roles, configure locations and divisions, manage billing, export all company data See any other company on the platform
Dispatcher / operations Dispatch desk, route supervisors Assign and cover routes, track vehicles live, message drivers, log incidents, run daily reports Change billing, create admin accounts, or edit compliance records
Maintenance / safety Shop manager, safety officer Open and close work orders, schedule preventive service, manage inspections and driver qualification files Reassign live routes or change company settings
Driver Drivers and aides, via the mobile app See their own assignment, complete inspections, confirm stops, report defects, message dispatch. Rider names can be shown as initials only, at the operator’s choice See other drivers' records, rider contact details beyond their own run, or any office function
Parent Guardians and caregivers, via the parent app See their own child confirmed boarded, dropped at school and arrived home; receive delay and cancellation notices; mark an absence or skip a trip up to three hours before pickup See any vehicle location or map, any other child, driver details, or anything operational

Roles are a starting point, not a cage. Your admin can create custom roles that grant a narrower or wider slice of these permissions.

Modules

Four areas, one set of records.

Fleet & assets

The vehicle file everything else hangs off.

  • Vehicle, trailer and equipment records with photos and documents
  • Registration, insurance and warranty expiry tracking
  • Preventive maintenance by mileage, engine hours or calendar
  • Work orders, parts, labour and outside-vendor invoices
  • Fuel and total cost of ownership per unit

Operations

Planning the day, and saving it when the day goes wrong.

  • Route and run builder with stops, timings and capacity
  • Daily assignment board for drivers and vehicles
  • Live map with vehicle position, status and delay flags
  • One-click cover for absences, breakdowns and reroutes
  • Charters, activity trips and one-off jobs alongside daily service

People & compliance

The file you want to already exist when someone asks for it.

  • Driver profiles with license class, endorsements and medical cards
  • Expiry reminders that escalate before the date, not after
  • Training, certification and policy acknowledgements
  • Incident and accident logging with photos and follow-up actions
  • Pre- and post-trip inspection records tied to the vehicle and the driver

Insight & communication

Proof for the customer, numbers for the board, answers for the family.

  • On-time performance, completed vs. missed stops, cost per mile
  • Downtime and repair spend by unit, so you know what to retire
  • Scheduled reports emailed to the people who ask for them monthly
  • Automatic rider notifications for delays, cancellations and arrivals
  • Full CSV and API export of everything you put in

Mobile

Two apps, two very different jobs.

One is a tool for a professional on shift. The other answers a single question for a parent at home. They should not look or behave the same, and they don't.

Driver app

Built for gloves, glare and a five-minute pre-trip window.

  • Today's assignment, vehicle and full stop list
  • Guided pre-trip and post-trip inspection with photo capture
  • Stop confirmation, no-shows and delay reasons in one tap
  • Turn-by-turn navigation along the assigned route
  • Rider names masked to initials, if your operation wants that — a lost phone is not a roster
  • Offline capture that syncs when signal returns

Parent app

Four confirmations a day, and a way to say “not today”.

  • Boarded — their child is on the bus this morning
  • Dropped at school — they arrived, and when
  • Boarded for home — they made the afternoon run
  • Arrived home — dropped at their own stop
  • Delay and cancellation notices when the plan changes
  • Mark absent or skip a trip — up to 3 hours before pickup

Absence & skip

A parent can call off a trip before the bus leaves the depot.

A sick child at 6am, a dentist appointment, a grandparent doing the school run today. Instead of a phone call to an office that has not opened yet, the guardian taps not riding today — up to three hours before the scheduled pickup.

The roster updates, dispatch sees the headcount change, and the stop list on the driver's phone reflects it before they pull out of the yard.

  • A three-hour cut-off, enforced. Changes have to land before the run is committed. Inside three hours the app tells the guardian to call dispatch, so nothing changes under a driver who has already left.
  • Nobody waits at an empty stop. A held stop costs a minute or two. Across a route on a bad morning that is the difference between on time and late for every family behind it.
  • One trip, one day, or a planned stretch. Skip the morning only, the afternoon only, or both — and set it in advance for a holiday or a hospital week.
  • It arrives as data, not a message. Absences land on the roster already attached to the right rider and stop, instead of as voicemails someone has to transcribe before the first run.

Security & data

Built so a bad login can't become a bad headline.

Transportation data is personal — where a child stands every morning, where a driver was at 4pm. We treat it that way from the schema up.

  • Tenant isolation. Every record belongs to exactly one company. Cross-company access is not a permission that exists.
  • Least privilege by default. New accounts start with the narrowest role and are widened deliberately.
  • Encryption in transit and at rest. TLS on every connection; encrypted storage and backups.
  • Audit trail. Who changed what, when, and from where — including any support session by our team.
  • Guardian access is scoped to one child. A parent account reaches that child’s own trip record and nothing else — not another family, not the driver, not the roster.
  • Your data, on request. Full export at any time, and deletion when you leave.

Integrations

Keep what already works.

You have probably already paid for hardware. We would rather read from it than sell you a replacement.

Telematics & GPS feeds ELD providers Dash & interior cameras Fuel cards Payroll & HR Accounting Student information systems Single sign-on (SAML / OIDC) REST API & webhooks

Integration availability depends on your providers and plan. Bring us your current stack during the walkthrough and we will tell you plainly what connects today, what we can build, and what would have to stay separate.

See it against your own routes.

Bring a real morning — the one with two call-outs and a bus in the shop. That's the demo worth having.
